Reservations
The flavors were delicious, but, for a restaurant of this category, customer service has room for improvement:
1. The maitre d was rude: when I pointed out that I had asked in my reservation for a table in a quiet area (instead of the noisy table that we were given), he raised his voice to state that that was the whole restaurant and we had two table choices (one worst than the other). My husband and I were shocked, he could have simply said that they were not able to accommodate that request at that moment and that would have been it.
Then, he plainly refused to have the table set before we sat down, even though the tables next to ours were, stating that the table will be set once we sat down. Then, of course, the table wasn’t properly set and we had to ask for the missing butter knives.
Since our friends had praised this place so much, we decided to take a deep breath and stay.
2. Our food took a long time to arrive to the point we thought they forgot about the order: more than 30 minutes for the main course, about 20 for one desert.
3. Our server was nice, but difficult to reach. We had to ask him to leave the bottle of water on the table so we pour it ourselves, instead of him taking it away after each pour. We understand him taking the bottle away from the table and pouring it each time is an above and beyond courtesy, but this turns into an inconvenience for the customer when he is busy and not available, and we are thirsty.
Besides the great flavors, the highlight of the day were the hostess and the young man at the host stand who were polite and attentive to everyone, even though they were very busy.
Perhaps this was a fluke of a busy Jan. 1st, we’ll never know.
